Remember that time that Taylor Swift decided to make a music video featuring her unreal crew of model/actress/singer best friends? You probably watched it and cried a little because #squadgoals. Well, either Madonna was very impressed or very threatened by the fact that someone else in the world be a part of a more star studded group chat than she is, because she kind of just did the exact same thing.
Yesterday, Madonna released her new music video for “Bitch I'm Madonna,” as if she could be mistaken for someone else at this point. In it, she stalks around a penthouse party while her famous friends rage behind her and make aggressive faces at the camera that say “we're not a girl group of trained assassins, but we'll fucking murder you anyway.”
The cast features, but is not limited to: Rita Ora, Chris Rock, Diplo, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé. Jesus Christ, it's like the front row of the Grammy's, plus a very confused Chris Rock. The only person on that list who actually had to be there was Nicki, who has a verse. Last time I checked, if I wanted to star or even be noticeable in my own music video, I wouldn't ask Beyoncé to cameo. Bold move. Also, is this Katy Perry's way of saying fuck you to Taylor Swift by getting in on someone else's “star-studded for no reason” music video? The world may never know.
