7 Things To Help Clean Up Your Space Instead Of Just Throwing Everything In The Closet

What is it about spring that makes us want to clean up our spaces? TBH, it never made sense to me considering spring is the time that I finally come out of the winter nest I’d made of my apartment into the sunshine on the first day it hits 60 degrees. If I’m not *actually* spending much time inside, then why bother cleaning my apartment? But for whatever reason, April rolls around and I become a type-A clean freak—AKA shoving sh*t into the bottomless pit that is my closet. Some might called a serial killer trait, I call it organized chaos.

This year, though, I promised myself I would actually tidy up. And by that I mean find places besides my closet that can hold my junk. (Baby steps!) What can I say? I’m entering my responsible adult era. And because I know you’re thinking to yourself, “maybe I should do that too,” I’m going to be oh-so-generous and share the goods. Now let’s stop wasting precious cleaning time and get into it.

Foldable Under-The-Bed Bags So You Can Stop Using Your Oven As Storage

The only place that’s scarier than my closet after a spring cleaning session is under my bed. It’s really been a catch-all for the stuff I’m either too lazy to throw away or don’t have a place to put (I’m looking at you, old shoe boxes and extra sets of sheets). These storage bins have forced me to stop hoarding old cardboard boxes and have given me a place to keep my sweaters that isn’t inside the oven.

A Shoe Storage Cabinet That Makes You Feel Like Carrie Bradshaw

I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit trying to find a matching pair of shoes. I’ll never forget the time I went on a trip and packed a pair of black flip flops that were actually one flip flop and one T-strap sandal. Not only can I organize my shoes with this, but I can actually see what I already own instead of accidentally buying four very similar pairs of tan booties (not that I know from experience).

Book-Shaped Storage Box For Everything You Keep On Your Bookshelf

Somehow every day one more pack of cards, baseball game ticket, or pack of nostalgic gels pens ends up lining the shelves along with the books that are actually supposed to be there. This faux book with storage inside it gives you the perfect excuse to organize your board game pieces while also looking super intellectual. You’re welcome.

Under Sink Organizer and Storage To Ensure You Stop Misplacing Your Sponge

While we’re in the kitchen, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the giant mess that lives under my sink. It’s so ironic, considering the only things I keep under there are used to actually help me clean. Can someone please explain to me how it could possibly be so hard to find a sponge? This under-the-sink organizer has made actually made cleaning the least stressful part of my day.

A Shower Caddy Shelf Organizer To Hold Everything You’ve Been Influenced To Buy

My shower has always been a sacred space. But considering I’m influenced by every single TikTok I watch, I’ve ended up with at least five different shampoos and three conditioners. It’s time to give them a proper home instead of watching them fall off the the ledge of the tub every time I shower. These shelves really withstand the weight of all those products and it doesn’t hurt that they aren’t a total eye sore.

Some Collapsible Fabric Storage Cubes Because You’re Never Going To Stop Shoving Shit Into Your Closet

Okay, so you may still need to throw a few things in your closet. I get it. That doesn’t mean that it has to look messy, right? I bought a few of these to keep my jeans and leggings in so they don’t just end up crumpled up in a pile on the floor. Now they’re just crumpled up in a pile inside these cute storage containers and TBH, that’s good enough for me.
