Before you reach for the protein bar, consider this. According to a new study in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism – eating fast food post workout is essentially equal to eating a protein bar.
The study seems sketch though, considering that only 11 athletes were involved and considering the fact that they were all already athletes, we have to give this study our side eye. If, however, this study were conducted over a longer period of time with people eating only fast food for a few weeks, we’re guessing results would have differed more substantially. But we’re not scientists.
And if scientists say that eating a burger, fries, and coke are as effective as a protein bar or shake, well who are we to fight science? Add a diet to that coke and we’re set.
There is of course the other angle of this story, which is the fact that protein bars may not be so healthy after all. Whatever, I’m getting cheese fries.
