Oh St. Patrick—patron saint of hangovers, green barf, and shamrock everything. What better way to ring in Spring (and, with it, bikinis, beach time, slacking off, and, eventually, summer) than with a
walk stumble-parade around town to visit every bar?
If you’re not all about embarrassing yourself in public, feel free to make your own dranks and, consequently, black out in your own home. We’ve rounded up three sweet concoctions to start your St. Patty’s Day festivities; don’t worry savory lovers—we’ll get to you tomorrow. Long live the Irish!
The Green Shamrock
Bubbly, sweet and green, this Bisol Jeio Prosecco-based cocktail is the perfect way to start your St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
- 2 oz. Bisol Jeio Prosecco D.O.C.
- 2 ½ oz. pear and apple juice
- ⅓ oz. midori
- ⅓ oz. simple syrup
Decoration: orange or lemon peel
In a glass or pitcher filled with ice, pour juice, midori and simple syrup. Mix well and pour into glasses until one-third full and top with prosecco.
The Bailey’s Day Starter
Nothing is more Irish than Bailey’s … we assume. Naturally, we had to make an alcoholic coffee drink to start the day.
- 1 oz. vanilla vodka
- ½ oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
- ¼ oz. Kahlua
- 1 ½ oz. heavy cream
- Cocoa powder
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice; pour in vodka, Bailey’s, Kahlua, and cream. Shake well for about 5 seconds. Add a few ice cubes to a highball glass and strain the alcoholic mixture over. Sprinkle cocoa powder over top and serve with a green bendy straw YAY.
If St. Patty’s ends up being warmer than usual, you can cool down with a nice, refreshing, totally boozy alcoholic lemonade!
- 2 oz. Jameson
- ¾ oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ½ oz. sweet vermouth
- ½ oz. simple syrup
Add whiskey, lemon, vermouth, and syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for like 15 seconds then strain into an ice-filled highball glass. Top with seltzer and garnish with more lemon, if you’re fancy.
