This Margarita Will Speed Up Your Metabolism & Here’s How To Make It

The typical margarita is like, awesome, but it can get a lil boring. With summer winding down (what the actual FUCK happened to June and July?!), we need a lil somethin’ somethin’ to keep us on our toes. So, we’ve incorporated hot peppers into our drinks.

Some of you may be like HOLD UP BITCH, but I promise that the mild heat from our friend, the jalapeño, won’t just give your drink a kick, but may actually speed up your metabolism so you can more quickly work off the 500 calories worth of guacamole you just inhaled.


  • Lime wedges
  • ¼ cup sanding sugar OR coarse salt (pick your margarita adventure)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup agave nectar
  • 1-2 jalapeños, sliced (remove the seeds and ribs if you’re a pussy)
  • Juice of ½ a lime
  • 1 cup blackberries (use fresh, bitch)
  • ½ cup lime juice (yes, separate from that lime juice from before)
  • 1 cup good tequila (white, not Jose)
  • Mint for garnish


First, get your glasses ready by running the lime wedge around the rim, then dipping them in either the sugar or salt. Add some ice and set those bitches in the freezer until you’re ready to use them.

Grab a small saucepan and combine the water, agave nectar, jalapeños, and juice from ½ of the lime. Over medium heat, whisk that shit together for like 10 minutes until everything is combined. Cool it off and remove a few of the jalapeño slices so you can garnish your drinks later. Throw the rest of the cooled jalapeño syrup into a blender with the blackberries and blend for like a few minutes until it’s totally smooth.

Okay NO— in a cocktail shaker combine the blackberry mixture you just blended, the ½ cup lime juice, and the tequila. Shake like your life depends on it, then strain into your chilled glasses and garnish with the reserved jalapeño slices and some mint. Yay.
