So, eating well can be hard, especially when literally everything has calories. Like, would it be too much to ask for wine to have negative calories? Or cheese? Anyway, the point is that when it comes to grabbing a snack, you can wreck your healthy day faster than Bachelor producers can wreck someone’s life with a little editing.
Because we are kind and smart and important, we’ve put together a list of 5 super healthy 100 calorie snacks that’ll not only not ruin your healthy day, but they’re like, not shitty either. Additionally, none of these come in a little plastic pouch with “100 calories” printed on the side:
Yes, really. Get the lowest calorie whole wheat bread you can find and toast one slice. Spread 1 tsp honey mustard on top and then layer on 2 slices of deli turkey.
Sounds super decadent but, in reality, is not going to ruin your day. Grab four bananas and slice into thirds. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and insert a popsicle stick into each banana. Melt ¾ cup of semisweet chocolate chips, then cover bananas evenly with that shit. Sprinkle each chocolate-covered banana evenly with ¼ cup shredded coconut. Freeze for like 2 hrs. Each piece is 100 calories AND you have leftovers.
Yes, you can have cheese. Dice up 1 ounce (about the size of a hockey puck) of fresh mozzarella and mix with 1/3 cup cherry tomatoes (diced), 5 torn fresh basil leaves, and 2 tsps balsamic vinegar.
Grab 1 cup of raw baby spinach, top with 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar and ¾ cup diced watermelon. Toss all that together and nom. Greens help keep you full, and watermelon will hydrate you fucking duh!
This should be a no-brainer. Cook 4 cups of frozen edamame (in pods) according to the package, then, while still hot, toss with 2 tsps coarse salt. ¼ cup is 50 calories so, like, you can have about ½ cup. YAY.
