Since this is the season where we all gain a bunch of weight then totally bitch about it until New Year’s, then we make a resolution to lose said weight by the summer (then the vicious cycle starts all over again), we figured we’d wade into the bog of desserts. Yes, there are some desserts you can totally have and not feel that fucking bad about. And thank god, since there are bound to be no less than 24 varieties of holiday cookies on this betch’s Christmas day table.
Below are our top four desserts – be they cookies or pies – that you can totally have a bite or three of:
When it comes to holiday pies, the one made from a vegetable is the healthiest ? surprise! Ditch the pecan (literally the worst pie for you) and opt for a sliver of pumpkin, which will run you about 300 calories (ughh) BUT has like, vitamins.
If you?re faced with a plate of sugary, buttery cookies, turn away. Meringue cookies ? made by beating the shit out of egg whites and adding sugar ? are pretty much straight up air. Each one only has like 5 to 15 calories, so feel free to eat the whole plate.
We all know the benefits of dark chocolate by now, so this shouldn?t come as a surprise. One average-sized chocolate truffle has about 60 calories, plus the dark chocolate has less sugar and more antioxidants. Yay!
Okay, allow us to elaborate ? we don?t mean the gingerbread men with little gumdrop buttons, frosting eyes, and all the trimmings. We mean a plain gingerbread cookie ? about a 2 inch round ? unadorned and plain. One of these can have as few as 50 calories with 5 grams of sugar. However, if you opt for a 3-inch long gingerbread man, you?re looking at at least 120 calories. Yikes.
