It’s the season of giving, and that should extend to your furry friend. Everything these days seems to be centered around puppies and how adorable they are, but what about our feline friends? Yes, kitties deserve special treats, too. And, as the animals most closely resembling our own attitudes, we share a special bond.
Here we have yummy treats your cat will love – they’ll definitely show affection for at least 20 seconds before going back to ignoring you. We adapted this recipe from Joy the Baker, since making our own and testing if kitty got sick was not a good way to go:
- 1 5oz can tuna, no salt added and packed in water, drained
- 1 cup oat flour – find it at a health food store
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp catnip – find it at a pet store
Preheat the oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set that shit aside. Grab a food processor and blend together all of the ingredients until it’s smooth. Remove from the blender and roll dough into ½ teaspoon balls. Place on the cookie sheet and you can use a knife or skewer to press an X-shape into each ball – totally optional as we don’t really think cats will notice the extra step … just saying.
Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes or until they look browned and dried. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely before serving them to kitty. These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a little over a week, so yay.
